Creative Photography – Wk1 Pt.1

This week welcomed the beginning of the Creative Photography course at Garage Studios. Like most courses our first session was a journey through the subjects history. However unlike previous courses I have been on our introduction to photography was not yet another recap of the creation of the camera, silver salts, glass plates and the death of portrait painting. Instead our trusted tutor Kevin Mason AKA Dark Daze, has moved us straight into 1900′s America, looking specifically at the works of the original Ad men of the FSA (Farming Security Administration) such as Walker Evans.

Working onwards to the likes of Garry Winogrand the main topic of this week is understanding how to tell a story through pictures. Possibly, missed by some was also the undertone of paying homage to those before to understand where you have come from and where you are going.

N.B Need to find a blind school.

This weeks assignment is to record a journey you take regularly in sequential shots. It’s not as easy as I thought it would be and have already made to failed attempts on Friday. I have a rough idea in my head of what I want to do but I think it may take a few attempts to get what I have in my head.

I thought I would show a few shots from my failed attempt on Friday morning. Going to need a shorter lens.
