Well, a bit of a hectic few days here in Brighton with the 2nd Great Escape Festival. Similar to South By South West or the Camden Crawl the Great Escape Festival sees over 200 bands play in venues all over the town.
A system which I have always thought was flawed as it means that every one of the major artists are over subscribed and getting in is nearly impossible unless you sit at the venue all day.
On Thursday I was highly impressed by a rather early lunchtime performance by Shona Foster, at the Prince Albert, was a rather impressive start to the proceedings.

Friday was my first foray into the world of ‘nu rave’ which I have to say I was suprised by. Young upstarts We Smoke Fags blew me away with their thumping disco beats, loud as fuck guitar riffs and sludgy lyrics.
Saturday saw my turn behind the camera for XYZ Magazine featuring The Barfly’s all day metal fest. Featuring some of my favourites, Hexes, The Ghost of a Thousand, Johnny Truant and Canada’s Cancer Bats.
These pictures will be part of a feature on the event in June’s issues which will be out in two weeks.
