Johnny Smallwood has always been one of my favourite front men. He’s so understated, vocal range is tight and his set banter is delivered in this wonderful self deprecating manner that you really wonder whether you are seeing a man on the edge about to break apart. Rachels Got A Flamethrower won this years Stable competition run by The Forum in Tunbridge Wells, with the prize being a recording session at The Granary Studios in Kent.

They’re all old friends, three of them I went to school with and it was the first time I had managed to finally see them play. They wrestle between technical metal and grindcore with this very intense live performance, I can certainly see why they won this years Stable.
With a few demo tracks available on their myspace, I eagerly await the arrival of their new demo.
