OpenTage Podcast and Brighton News

I’ve just got back into HQ after an interview with Ali and Nathan of OpenTage for their May Podcast (subscribe through iTunes now). It was a really strange experience, I am not so used to being on the other side of the mic, but I think I managed to string at least one sensible sentence together.

It was a great experience, as are any of their shows which rather swiftly brings me to the point.

Tomorrow sees the last ever gig held at the Hobgoblin pub in Brighton. For Decades, the Hob has been a mecca for hair bikers and metallers alike and it is going to be truly sad to see it go. It’s had a rough ride over the last few years with some bad decisions and poor management and it’s a real shame as it detracts from some of the really amazing things that is has done for the Brighton music scene over the years.

I’ve seen some amazing bands from all over the world play in its many guises, Circle Takes The Square, Mutiny On The Bounty, Taint, Winnebago Deal, Candy Sniper, Charlotte Field, Trencher, Godsize to name a very small number of incredible performances I have seen.

It seems almost befitting that it should close up with such an immense show. Friday 9th April sees the first show of the year for Blackstorm, and in turn the last show at Hobgoblin for OpenTage. Images, maybe a little write up, all coming soon.
