12.07.09First video with Nikon D300sShot for Black Match Records TV, this is my first try with the Nikon D300s video capabilities. Shot during their support slot for Orange Goblin back at the beginning of November, I think it has come out pretty darn good! There are a few issues with the video quality, it suffers from scan lines where there are extreme altering light patterns, as a result it doesn't make it particularly idea for shooting from FOH like this, but I imagine on stage probably comes out quite nicely. 05.09.09Lighting test – high strobesPossibly the first self-portrait I have ever posted. This is another Adventure in Flash, preparing for tomorrows shoot with Brighton Metalcore demons Here There Be Monsters. I have a very specific lighting style in mind which suits the location scouted out earlier this week. 05.06.09Scouting for grimeOne of the hardest things about doing portraits, is finding the right location. I had found a perfect location, which I scouted out with my good buddy DarkDaze. It was the perfect blend of abandonment dirt and beauty we were both searching for. Luckily for him, he go there the morning they started tearing the warehouse down with bulldozers. 04.27.09Balancing daylight with StrobesThis another from the Nedry promoshoot taken at Abney Park Cemetery, London. This was quite a tricky shot to set up. The alcove is very tight, which gave this wonderful frame, but the sun was pumping head on. Brilliant you might think! Wrong, because it means that dark crevices are seriously dark. The main issue was that Chris (in the back of the shot) was stuck in the shadows. Taking meter readings off the front was only going to expose the brickwork and Ayu and Matt at the front.
