09.14.09BlakFish – The Forum Tunbridge Wells 12.09.09Took a trip back in time on Saturday night to go check out BlakFish at The Forum in Tunbridge Wells, where I cut my teeth some ten years ago now. It was an interesting experience, particularly as I had not been back there since 2002 to watch a show. It is still one of the greatest venues around, it is an excellent space and the sound is perfect. It's just a real shame that nobody has yet cracked how to market and promote it yet, although I gather things are coming along leaps and bounds in that front at present. ...

08.31.09Telegraphs – Brighton’s Greatest Escape of 2009To celebrate the September release of Brighton's SOURCE Magazine, I went down to check out a last minute show by the cover stars, Telegraphs who along with a few others had managed to put a spring back into those who were unfortunate to have bought a ticket for this years ill-fated and cancelled Beachdown Festival. I had a great time with them a few weeks back interviewing them for this months feature story, which should be in shops in the next few days. 07.05.09Silversun Pickups – Brighton Digital 03.07.09Friday was a very special occassion, with Silversun Pickups playing at Digital in Brighton, a great venue on the beach. It's the first time I have actually been to digital and I think that it is a space which as a nightclub I would imaging fails quite gracefully but as a live music venue is possibly perfect. It has a sort of London Borderline feel to it, has plenty of room to manouvre and yet like several venues in Brighton, suffers from FUCKING MASSIVE PILLAR IN FRONT OF STAGE SYNDROME. 06.23.09Funeral Hag – Hectors House 28.05.09Taken last month during their support slot for the incredible Here There Be Monsters, Funeral Hag sling mud at you like the sludgiests grind you can handle. For fans of acts like EyeHateGod, Electric Wizard and Iron Monkey, Funeral Hag really punch all the buttons with a wonderful boomy open guitar sound, gravel-bound vocals, rattling bass and thunderous drums. 06.22.09Roman Showers – Hobgoblin 22.06.09Being first on is never easy, its been a long road but Roman Showers are finally installed in the Brighton Metal Scene, with a quite gargantuan sound from a three piece sludge fest.
