09.05.10Gallows – Sonisphere Knebworth 2010Frank Carter, as always owned the crowd from the second he strutted onto the Bohemia stage at Sonisphere Knebworth. Some people may consider him to be a huge HUGE prick, but there is no denying that the bastard captivates the anger of the current generation of gig goers to the point where he can walk across peoples hands from one end of a festival tent to the other.

09.19.09WhiteAir Festival 2009This weekend sees the WhiteAir Festival take over Madeira Drive, Brighton for three days of 'extreme' sports and music. The ratio of music to sports is weighted quite heavily towards the sport, which is probably why the company gave away several hundred tickets yesterday in the hopes of getting someone to turn up! In terms of the music, yesterday saw the highlights. Brighton's This City, opened up the proceedings, presumably to some people, with maybe some other stuff after, but the only two names I was interested in were The Lemonheads and Biffy Clyro. 09.14.09BlakFish – The Forum Tunbridge Wells 12.09.09Took a trip back in time on Saturday night to go check out BlakFish at The Forum in Tunbridge Wells, where I cut my teeth some ten years ago now. It was an interesting experience, particularly as I had not been back there since 2002 to watch a show. It is still one of the greatest venues around, it is an excellent space and the sound is perfect. It's just a real shame that nobody has yet cracked how to market and promote it yet, although I gather things are coming along leaps and bounds in that front at present. ...

05.23.09Here There Be Monsters RehearsalLast night I was in the rehearsal studio with Here There Be Monsters in preparation for their show at Hectors House this coming Thursday (28th May '09). Part of an ongoing documentary project with the band, these shots, will all become part of an extensive promotional series, which will including photographs (by yours truly) taken over several months with the band, at shows, press shots, rehearsals and the recording of their new EP (July 26-27 '09) with a penciled release of a single in September - with a video, which I hope to also be involved in documenting and finally ...

05.18.09The Great Escape 2009Another May, another Brighton Festival and the third (citation req) The Great Escape. This year I did not get a press pass, overlooked by the organisers for some of my fellow togs, and not wishing to follow up with any publications to stand in rain and queues for three days. I did however get a message from Mr Big Scary Monsters to ask about covering the label showcase at the Hobgoblin on the Saturday which I duly accepted. Nothing seemed to go to plan however.
